Office Visits

Our practice is committed to providing you and your family with safe, gentle, and high-quality dental care. We understand that your son or daughter may feel anxious about visiting the dentist. We are sensitive to children’s needs, and it is our goal to make your child feel comfortable visiting our practice while we provide the best possible care.

When should I schedule my child’s first visit to the dentist?

We recommend you make an appointment to see us as soon as your child gets that first tooth. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends that children be seen by six months after their first tooth emerges, or at one year of age, whichever comes first.

Your first visit is all about your child: his or her comfort, happiness, and health

During your little one’s first visit, we will review the dental and medical history forms, and take X-rays of the teeth and mouth, if needed. We will clean and polish your son or daughter’s teeth, and inspect for cavities or early signs of tooth decay or gingivitis.

Should I accompany my child during the visit?

Pyfferoen Pediatric Dentistry has an “open chair” policy. One parent is welcome, but not required, to accompany the patient into the treatment areas for the visit. However, if your child is infant/toddler age, Dr. Matt and Dr, Denise encourage a parent to come in. This allows for a more interactive appointment for questions and open dialogue.

Bring your little one’s smile, but also remember to bring these to the first appointment

Regular checkups are an important part of maintaining a healthy smile!

The American Dental Association recommends that children visit the dentist every six months for regular checkups and routine teeth cleanings to keep their teeth and gums healthy.

We understand your family has a busy schedule, so when you’re preparing for a dental visit, please remember an appointment can last between 20 and 40 minutes.
